Our Community

Our Community is where we do business and our staff live, work and play. Getting to know our neighbors, building relationships, and ensuring our restaurant reflects the diversity of the neighborhood are our guiding principles.  We are active in our communities, and strive to make valuable contributions to them.

If you’ve ever been to an Outback Steakhouse on a Saturday night, you would believe it to be the local favourite Place-To-Be! Great steaks and ribs, delicious side dishes, cool drinks and good friends are abundant. But on any given Saturday afternoon, your local Outback crew, our “Outbackers,” may be working their magic outside.

Outback Steakhouse has long been a committed good neighbor in the communities surrounding its restaurants. School fetes and celebrations, community fundraisers, civic, youth and sports groups are among the many recipients of Outback’s spirit of giving back. In the past 12 months, the seven Australian Outback Steakhouse restaurants have donated more than $200,000 to such community efforts. We do this primarily by hoisting a marquee, firing up the grill and serving some great Outback Steakhouse BBQ where the cash raised through the sale of food are donated to the cause.

In addition to grassroots local efforts, our Outbackers have also supported national charitable organizations such as the Cancer Council’s many Relay for Life events, Jeans for Genes benefitting the Children’s Medical Research Institute, The AIDS Trust of Australia, Parkinson’s Disease research,  and the Movember campaign supporting men’s health research.

Annually since 2007, Outback Steakhouses open their doors to displaced families, particularly mums and children, for a complimentary Christmas lunch, where assistance from our local police, fire and ambulance personnel help us bring cheer, good food and goodwill to our less fortunate neighbors.

We know it is our loyal customers — or “guests” as we prefer to call you — who support their favourite Outback Steakhouse that enable our generosity.
